How do I get a Library Card?

  • If you live in Marin, you can get an eCard right now and on your next visit to the Library, upgrade to a full-service Library card.

What is an eCard?

  • An eCard gives you access to the library's online services. As soon as you submit the online form (below), you get an eCard ID that you can use for three years or until you upgrade it to a full-service card. Read the FAQ about eCards.

What is a full-service Library card? How do I get one?

  • A full-service library card gives you access to all the library's services, online, and in the library. You can check out materials at any MARINet library and use the computers at libraries that require a barcode to log in. To get a full-service library card, fill out the online form to get an eCard (below), and then visit the Circulation Desk at the Library with photo ID and proof of address. You'll receive a wallet-size card and a keychain card. You also need a PIN

  • Those under age 16 may get a Library card if they can print their first and last names on the Library card application and are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian must present identification. For more on Library cards for kids, visit our kids' pages.

A note about Library Cards

Library cards must be updated periodically and whenever you change your name, address, or phone number. Please fill out a form at the Circulation Desk to update your information or if you need a replacement Library card.
