Project Summary

The Sycamore Avenue Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvement Project will provide a pathway along the south side of Sycamore Avenue linking the Mill Valley-Sausalito path to Camino Alto Avenue. The City would like to thank the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and the Safe Routes to Schools Task Force members who assisted in the development of these improvements identified in the Mill Valley Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan. The project is funded through a federal Transportation Enhancements Program Grant and the Measure A-1/2 cent sales tax.

The first phase of the project was completed on March 3, 2014 and comprised of the removal of eucalyptus trees fronting the SASM property. The trees will be replaced with native, non-invasive and lower fire-risk species. The second phase of work will commence in June 2014 and includes constructing the pathway and replacing trees removed in the first phase. Staff anticipates the pathway to be open and ready for use by September 2014.
