Basic Photoshop for Design | April 25th, 7:00pm

In this class we will cover a range of Photoshop skills used for design. The class will go a step beyond the fundamentals to delve more deeply into the power of Photoshop as a tool for digital design. We will work with layers to create composite images, using blending modes and layer effects. We’ll learn about non-destructive editing using Smart Objects, as well as basic masking techniques. We’ll look at the typography tools in Photoshop and options for printing projects, or exporting images for use online.

Instructor: Elaine Gruenke
Elaine Gruenke has worked as a professional graphic designer for the past fifteen years. She has a special passion for Photoshop, and her experience includes working on fine art for the Venice Biennale using Photoshop, as well as working as a project manager and lesson designer for Adobe Press’ Photoshop CS4 Classroom in a Book, Photoshop CS5 Classroom in a Book, and Photoshop CS6 Classroom in a Book. She is currently a Master of Arts candidate in Graphic Design at Savannah College of Art and Design, and is the owner of Smartwork Design.

Experience required: Basic computer skills, knowledge of Mac OS, using a keyboard and mouse. Please note that this is a beginner-level class, however it is not an introduction to Photoshop. This class presumes students have a basic knowledge of Photoshop or have already taken Photoshop Fundamentals at the Mill Valley Public Library.
