The Friends of the Mill Valley Library present a series of Monday Night at the Movies events.  This month's theme: Viva Verdi! Guiseppe Verdi @200.

Giuseppe Verdi with James Sokol
Monday, November 4th @ 7:30 p.m.

Through film clips and discussion, James Sokol will present an insightful and melodious survey of Verdi’s repertoire. Experience the profound effects this great composer had on the development of opera, from early traditional gems (Oberto, Nabucco) to middle-period favorites (Rigoletto, La Traviata) to late almost-modern masterpieces (Otello, Falstaff). James Sokol started his career under Beverly Sills at New York City Opera. He has worked for San Francisco Opera and has been involved in opera in the Bay area for over two decades. He is the former executive director of Pocket Opera and has presented opera programs at the Santa Rosa Junior College , the College of Marin and the Jewish Community Center of Marin. He leads Cultural Arts and Opera Tours to exciting destinations around the world.

Doors open at 7:00. This series is sponsored by The Friends of the Mill Valley Library. For more Programs and Events at the Library, see the Library Events Calendar.
