Jefferson in Paris (1995)

This film is about the years Thomas Jefferson (Nick Nolte) spent in Paris as an Ambassador prior to the outbreak of the French Revolution. While absorbing much of French culture, his experiences at the court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette caused him to support reform. At age 41 and recently widowed, he had with him his daughters Patsy (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Polly and the slave girl Sally Hemings (Thandie Newton) Given the chance to remain free in Paris, Sally nonetheless returned to the U.S. with Jefferson and remained at Monticello as a slave until he died, bearing his 6 children, all born into slavery.

Doors open at 7:00. This series is sponsored by The Friends of the Mill Valley Library. For more Programs and Events at the Library, see the Library Events Calendar.
