World Literature Book Club (fiction)
Tuesday, June 24th - 7:00pm

June Reading: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

The global economy has erased arbitrary boundaries between cultures.  On a daily basis, we interact with the world in both large and small ways.  We call phone banks in India, e-mail on-line businesses in England, drink fair-trade coffee from Columbia, read about micro-lending in Africa, and shop for green toys made in Thailand. But what about literature?  Does the country define the writer or does the writer define the country?  Or can literature take place in a global vacuum, devoid of setting?  Join us as we dip in the literary waters of many cultures and sample some of the best of the best, one book at a time.

The World Literature Book Club meets every 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. Registration required.

Literary Conversations Book Club (fiction & non-fiction)
Wednesday, June 25th - 7:00pm

June Reading: Old Times by Harold Pinter

Formerly the American Experience Book Club, we’re broadening our focus! The Literary Conversations Book Club will focus on literature from the US or any of the former British colonies which still use English as their primary language. We’ll read plays, novels, and other works which examine current ideas that have been part of the literature for an extensive period of time, such as social issues, personal relations, and moral choices.  Members of the book club will engage with each other and the characters in our readings for exciting and enlightening discussions. All are welcome!

The Literary Conversations Book Club meets every 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm. Registration required.
