Visions of Marin - The Art of Bernard Healey

Bernard Healey is a long time Marin resident who loves the coast and the natural lands and seascapes that make Marin a paradise. Most of his painting career has been focused on landscapes and waterscapes in acrylic paints on canvas. His paintings include subtle washes and subdued glazes of underpainting and often adds rich impastos for contrast to complete his compelling compositions.  Although Healey considers his painting style to be “Plein Air”, he is most often found in his studio painting from loose impressions of local scenes, memories gathered from many forays in the area and photographs taken on the site. Healey’s personal inquiry into space, color, and light has helped him express the sweeping power of local scenery rather then simply illustrate it.
