Salmon running upstream, the ant and the rubber tree plant, that little engine … who doesn’t love a good story of persistence and perseverance? Master storyteller and Snap Judgment producer, Jamie DeWolf and others will be sharing their true personal tales of tenacity and commitment at all costs. Come find out why the Chronicle calls DeWolf “a high octane mix of the profane and the profound.”

Storytellers
Jamie DeWolf  is a performer, filmmaker, showman, teacher, and artist from Oakland, CA.  He is currently working on new screenplays, a one-man show and is a producer for NPR’s storytelling show Snap Judgment. He is always looking for new ways to expand as an artist and filmmaker.  jamiedewolf.com

Doug Cordell is an NPR radio storyteller, performer and Emmy-nominated writer. His autobiographical radio stories air on Snap Judgment and Marketplace. Listen to his stories and find out about upcoming shows at dougcordell.com

Karinda Dobbins, a Motor City native and up-and-coming Bay Area comedian, was born into a politically active family of skilled storytellers and sharp wits. Her worldview was shaped by their accounts of protest, civil rights and empowerment, weighty subjects that were always leavened with humor. She has appeared around the Bay at comedy clubs such as Tommy T’s, the Punch Line and Cobb’s, opened for W. Kamau Bell and headlined at San Francisco’s legendary Purple Onion. http://karindadobbins.site.socxs.com/Home

Emcee
Josh Healey is an award-winning writer, performer, and creative activist. Fusing his distinct storytelling style with subversive humor and a fiery love for justice, Healey has been featured in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and is a regular performer on NPR’s Snap Judgment. joshhealey.org

What are First Fridays?
Debuting in January 2011 in celebration of the Library's centennial year, the ongoing "First Fridays" series presents different narratives, ideas and presentations that an audience might otherwise not consider or experience. First Fridays are for adults and high school students.

The Venue:
The Library's Main Reading Room is transformed into a beautiful venue for First Friday events. Built in 1966, the Library is nestled among the redwoods in an award-winning building and reflects the diverse intellectual interests of the community.

The Experience:
Programs typically last 90 minutes (includes Q&A). First Fridays feature a wine reception before and after our program. Patrons enjoy the intimate atmosphere and ability to meet our presenters. Attendance ranges between 115 and 260 people per event.

Thank you to the Mill Valley Library Foundation and the Friends for their generous support of Library programs and services. Click here to support Library events.
