On January 26, 2013, Marin County is launching a new and improved version of the Telephone Emergency Notification System (TENS). The existing TENS system is a reverse 9-1-1 type of system that allows emergency services (police and fire) to send a recorded message to your home phone in the event of an emergency. The new version allows residents to register their cell phone, work and other alternate phone numbers as well as email addresses to the system. Please click here for locations for assistance to register on Alert Marin Day, Saturday, January 26, 2013.
The new TENS system will replace the current Marin Emergency Advisory Notification System (MEANS) that residents had previously signed up for. Beginning June 1, 2013, MEANS will no longer be used for emergency notifications.
