Volunteers Prepare for Book Sale

The Friends of the Mill Valley Library needs additional workers to help with all the tasks required in a book sale. Actually, working in a book sale is a great way to meet folks in the Community and it's also a lot of fun. Please look over this list to see how you can contribute

Volunteers Preparing for Book Sale  

Ongoing Preparation for the Next Sale -- Weekly

  The current book sale staff work on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 am to noon.
  After learning your job, you can work at any time convenient for you.

Price books 2 - 3 hours
Shelve priced books 2 - 3 hours
Process Library discards 2 - 3 hours
Pack bargain books into cartons and
stack onto carts for outside sales tables
1 - 2 hours
Flatten cardboard boxes and take to the Library dumpster * 1 hour
Take discarded hardcover books to the Library dumpster * 1 hour
Take discarded paperback books to recycling in San Rafael * Travel time
Take any discarded books to any other location * Travel time
Publicity for the Sale -- Monthly
Compose and send our press release 2 - 3 hours
Put up posters 1 - 2 hours
Day of Sale (3rd Saturday of Each Month)
Set up and take down outdoor signs* 1/4 hour at 8:30 am and again at 4:00 pm
Set up and take down Bargain Book tables outside* 1/2 hour at 8:30 am and again at 4:00 pm
Work in two-person teams as cashier 2 1/2 hour shifts
(9:00-11:30, 11:30-2:00, 2:00-4:30)
Restock shelves during the sales 1 - 2 hour shifts between 11:00 and 3:30
