Create Music with GarageBand | May 29th, 7:00pm
You don't have to be a studio producer to record tracks, make loops/samples, and create music! Most Macs come equipped with a user-friendly audio recording program called GarageBand that is Apple's attempt to make it as easy as possible for amateurs to create quality recordings. This beginner-level class will cover the basic capabilities of GarageBand and try to demystify the music-making process for beginners. Whether your goal is to create purely electronic music, to record raw audio tracks from a mic, to blend the two, or just to have fun, GarageBand is a easy-to-use, intuitive place to start.
Instructor: Simon Woodard
Simon works at the Library in many ways unrelated to music, but in his free time he has used GarageBand and other software for projects ranging from music to radio drama. He is currently working on an online database of homemade "artisanal" ringtones for today's disenchanted smartphone user.
Experience required: Basic computer skills, knowledge of Mac OS, using a keyboard and mouse
