| Under sunny skies on Saturday September 8th, Mill Valley’s Art Commission held the twenty- second annual Paint Off competition at the Depot Plaza in downtown Mill Valley. Between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, dozens of artists painted any scene visible to them from the Depot Plaza using any style or medium of their choice.
The artists’ work resulted in the selection of winners for the Jack Beck Most Original Award People’s Choice, Artists’ Choice, Youth and Best in Show Awards.
This year’s winners were Brian Ayuso for Artists’ Choice, People's Choice and Best in Show Award; Zach Gilmour and Brian Ayuso sharing the Jack Beck Most Original Award; Melinda Estey and Ben tied for second place in the People’s Choice Award; Bella Jensen won the Teen Award and Rahman won the Youth Award.
Their awards will be bestowed at City Hall as part of the City’s First Tuesday Art Walk in October. A reception for the artists and the public will be held on Tuesday October 2, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. All of the participating artists work will be on display throughout October in the Council Chambers, located on the second floor of City Hall.
Award prizes were generously donated by Jack Beck, founder of the Paint Off event for the Jack Beck Most Original Award; Henry's Toy Store, Mill Valley for the Youth and Teen Awards, and the Mill Valley Art Commission for the Artists’ and People’s Choice Awards. |
