After School Policy & Pick-up/Drop-off information

Let's keep the kids safe & have some fun!!

Effective October 1, 2008, the Mill Valley Community Center has adopted the following after school policy. The policy states that at 3:15 pm (2:15pm on early dismissal days) only pre-teens and teens enrolled in programs at the Community Center will be allowed on the premises.

The Community Center staff and the Mill Valley Police Department will enforce this policy regularly. The teens that are not enrolled in programs MUST leave the premises. The policy has been implemented due to the excessive complaints from Community Center patrons regarding inappropriate language & unacceptable behavior of the teens.

We encourage you to enroll your teen in our after school Teen Zone program or in one of the many Mill Valley youth programs we offer at the Center.

The Teen Zone program has a $20 membership fee for the entire school year. It is a drop-in program, which provides a place for the teens to come and do homework, play videos and participate in a variety of activities. The program also provides behavior and conduct guidelines, which supports staff in monitoring and encouraging appropriate behavior while they are on the Community Center premises. Our goal is to offer a safe and enjoyable after school program for the teens in our community.

PICK-UP & DROP-OFF LOCATIONS AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER: Please be careful when dropping-off and picking-up your MVMS students here at the Mill Valley Community Center. These times cause traffic delays on Camino Alto, frequent accidents, and put your children at risk. To create a safer drop-off/pick-up environment, we need your help. Please do not drop-off/pick-up your student in the roundabout (near the flagpole) at the front of the community center.

Instead, please proceed down the parking lot to the baseball fields. There is still easy access to both Camino Alto and E. Blithedale from this location and it is easier to turn around and get past other vehicles. It will help keep your kids (and cars) safe. For the first few weeks of school you will see signs and staff pointing you to the right areas.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Annie Bricca, Teen Coordinator, at (415)383-1370 ext. 4709 or abricca@cityofmillvalley.org
