Unattended Child

If you see a child under the age of six left unattended in a vehicle, please report this to the Mill Valley Police Department. In addition to being a safety issue, leaving a child alone in a vehicle is also a violation of the Vehicle Code (VC 15620). The fine for this infraction is $100.

The form to report an unattended child is available at all Mill Valley elementary school offices, Mill Valley City Hall, the Police Department and on-line below. The form can be submitted to the Police Department by fax, phone, mail or in person. The address is 1 Hamilton Drive, Mill Valley, CA 94941.

The Mill Valley Police Department will send out a warning letter to the registered owner of the vehicle in which the child(ren) were left. For an immediate safety danger, i.e.: a child in distress or a vehicle parked in an unsafe location... call 911 for an Officer to respond to the call.
