The Mill Valley Police Department now offers two different forms of fingerprinting services: ink and Live Scan.
Ink fingerprinting is the traditional form of fingerprinting, where a person's fingers are inked and the prints rolled onto a fingerprint card. See our Services page for information on ink fingerprinting.
Live Scan is an automated digital fingerprinting service offered through the California Department of Justice. A person's fingers are digitally scanned and electronically transmitted to agencies such as the California Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation for background records checks. Live Scan fingerprints are used for licensing/permits/certifications and applicant pre-employment purposes.
Live Scan services are provided for a $20 rolling fee at the Public Safety Building, Monday - Thursday, by appointment only. Additional fees for DOJ/FBI processing may be applicable.
