The Mill Valley Police Department Explorers Post is comprised of youths aged 14 through 21 who are interested in law enforcement. The goal of the post is to educate interested youths in methods and objectives of law enforcement and to encourage Explorer participation in rewarding and productive service activity.

The post holds regular meetings where law enforcement ideals and techniques are demonstrated and discussed. The post also allows observation of field activity of police officers by means of a special Explorer Ride-Along Program. Training topics include:
  • Traffic Control
  • Fingerprinting
  • CPR / First Aid
  • Search and Rescue
  • Gun Safety

In addition, Explorers have participated in community events such as the Mill Valley Safety Fair, the Marin County Fair, and fingerprinting youth for various civic groups.

Interested persons are encouraged to submit a City of Mill Valley Police Explorer application. You can download and fill out the Online Explorer Program Application Form, or you may receive an application by contacting Juvenile Resource Officer David Kollerer at (415) 389-4100 or via e-mail at dkollerer@cityofmillvalley.org.
