The Mill Valley Click Off Amateur Photography Contest is presented annually by the Mill Valley Art Commission in Mill Valley, California. The 2000 contest was held from October 20 to October 22, 2000. Mill Valley residents who entered the contest were given 48 hours in which to shoot one roll of slide photographs within Mill Valley 94941 or in Mt Tamalpais State Park. After the film was developed, the entrants selected up to four slides for judging, no more than one in each of the four categories: People, Places, Things and Artistic Expression.
To keep the photographers on an even level, Eastman Kodak Company generously provided each entrant with a free roll of the high quality Kodak Professional Ektachrome 35mm VS E-6 film, the company's recent addition to its E-Series of slide films. Ektachrome Radiance Paper was used for the prints.
Judges included local professional photographers Ken Friedman and Bob Holmes in addition to sponsor Tom Kunhardt of Kodak Professional, and photographs were judged based on the following criteria: the ability to capture the unique essence of Mill Valley, creative composition, and clarity and color value.
The Best of Show winner received a $200 gift certificate redeemable towards photographic equipment and services, and the winning photos were displayed in the Mill Valley City Hall Council Gallery in December of 2000, with a special reception for the photographers on First Tuesday, Mill Valley's monthly celebration of art gallery openings, on December 5 from 6-8pm. Thank you to the coordinators, volunteers and participants, and congratulations to the winners!
