2004 Click Off Photos
Monday, November 25, 2013
The Mill Valley Click Off Photography Contest is presented by the Mill Valley Art Commission in Mill Valley, California. The 2004 contest was held from October 15 to October 17.
During a 48-hour period on that weekend, contest entrants could shoot one roll of slide film, provided by the Art Commission, anywhere within Mill Valley 94941 or in Mt Tamalpais State Park. After the film was developed, the entrants selected up to four slides for judging, no more than one in each of the four categories: People, Places, Things and Artistic Expression.
Judges were professional photographer and painter Debra Maddox, photography teacher at Tamalpais High School Mary Manulkin and College of Marin Photography Department instructor Jeff Weston. Photographs were judged based on the following criteria: the ability to capture the unique essence of Mill Valley, creative composition, clarity and color value.
First, Second and Third Place photographs were selected in each of the four categories and prizes were awarded to each winner. In addition the Grand Prize of a one-night stay for two at Mountain Home Inn on Mt Tamalpais, including a bottle of champagne and breakfast, was awarded to the participant whose photograph was judged Best of Show.
All winning photographs, plus selected slides from other photographers who participated in the contest, are being displayed in the Mill Valley City Hall Council Gallery during the month of December 2004, with a special reception for the photographers on First Tuesday, Mill Valley's monthly celebration of art gallery openings, on December 7 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Thank you to the coordinators, volunteers and participants. Gratitude also goes to the sponsors of the contest: Depot Bookstore and Cafe, First Crush Restaurant, Framelines Photo, Marin Filmworks, Mountain Home Inn, Peets Coffee, Peter Lee Brownlee, Seawood Photo and Small Shed Flatbreads. And of course, congratulations to the winners!
