Create and Edit Your Own Movies with iMovie | July 11th, 11:00pm
Do you want to learn how to use native Mac video-editing software to improve your ability to represent yourself and the world around you through the medium of video? Are you intimidated by the complex vocabulary and endless expensive equipment advocated by professional filmmakers, but excited by the prospect of creating your own videos? Many Macs come equipped with a straightforward, intuitive video editing program called iMovie, in which you can edit home video or other video clips into seamless video, complete with audio and visual effects. This class is an introduction for first-time users of this software, or those who have used it and are looking to broaden their horizons.
Instructor: Simon Woodard
Simon works in various capacities at the Library, none of which require him to edit movies. In his free time, he uses iMovie for various multimedia endeavors, including a forthcoming set of stop-motion skits revolving around a penal colony on Mars. He teaches English at San Quentin State Prison and lives in West Marin.
Pre-requisite: To participate in this course, you must have basic computer skills, using a keyboard and mouse, and preferably have experience with Mac OS and basic videography
