Recycle

Recycling helps our environment and helps the Library. All proceeds from the Great American Recycling Drive benefit Mill Valley Public Library.

Accepted Items

We accept:

  • All models of cell phones, cell phone batteries, chargers, and accessories
  • All makes and models of printer cartridges, including inkjet, laserjet, fax, and copier cartridges
  • All household batteries

When you choose to get a new cell phone, don't throw away your old phone. Cell phones contain hazardous substances such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury. These toxic substances are released into the environment when cell phones are incinerated or disposed of in landfills. Recycle your used phone in a socially and environmentally responsible manner when you drop it in our collection bin at the Library.

You can recycle your used printer cartridges, too, and keep cyanide and plastic out of our landfills. Recycled cartridges can be remanufactured, which saves energy and materials and helps reduce pollution. We provide envelopes for you to take home. Place your used printer cartridge inside and drop it in the mail. For larger cartridges, bring them to the Library and drop them in the collection bin.

Drop your household batteries in the blue collection bin in the Library's lobby. Please place batteries only in the bin; take your bags home and use them again.
