E-Bikes Safety Tips from the Mill Valley Police Department

e bike safety tips

Do you or your child have a new electric bicycle (E-bike)? As we are seeing an influx in E-bikes, we want to make sure that you are taking the proper safety precautions. Make sure your family is following the rules of the road when it comes to riding.

  1. Ages 17 and under must wear a helmet.
  2. Everyone is required to wear a helmet if you ride a Type 3 E-Bike.
  3. E-bikes are not allowed on the sidewalks in Mill Valley.
  4. Like vehicles, bicyclists are required to ride on the right side of the roadway.
  5. You must follow the rules of the road like stopping at stop signs, yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalks, and stopping at red lights.
