The Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority (MWPA) was created to implement a comprehensive wildfire prevention and emergency preparedness program for Marin County. MWPA is funded by a parcel tax approved by votes in March 2020.
There is a low-income senior parcel tax exemption available to homeowners who meet certain criteria. You must re-apply every year.
Criteria
To qualify for an exemption from the Measure C – Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority – parcel tax, homeowners must meet the following criteria:
• Owner must be 65 years old, or older, by July 1 of any applicable tax year
• Property must be an owner-occupied, single-family residence (house, condo, townhome)
• An exemption application must be filed annually
• Household income is equal to or lower than theU.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) income limits used to determine eligibility for assisted housing programs; calculated on number of people in household:
1 Person $102,450
2 People $117,100
3 People $131,750
4 People $146,350
5 People $158,100
