Infrastructure Funding Study Committee to Review Infrastructure Needs

City leaders have identified a number of infrastructure investments critical to the safety and well-being of our residents that will require significant funding over the next 10-15 years.Examples of some of the needed work include (but are not limited to) the following:

Safety improvements: Preventing landslides, reducing fire and flood risk, improving emergency egress, and updated public safety facilities and emergency shelters.

Deferred building maintenance: New roofs, foundation repairs, mold abatement, plumbing, HVAC, flooring, public restrooms, and security upgrades.

Community benefits: Improved sidewalks, recreation facilities, roadways and bike facilities, sustainability initiatives, and supporting diversity, equity and inclusion.

At their July 17, 2023 meeting, the Mill Valley City Council voted unanimously to appoint a temporary Study Committee to review infrastructure reports, funding options, and make a recommendation to Council. The Committee's mandate will be to review the City's infrastructure challenges and craft a financial strategy to recommend to Council by the end of the year.

The Study Committee will hold its second meeting on Tuesday, October 3 at 6:00 pm at the Mill Valley Library. Topics for the meeting include the City's infrastructure needs, State/Regulatory Mandates, Capital Improvement Program Selection and Other Projects.
